All of us at some point have seen, followed, and cheered on for our nation in the bi-annual ancient Greek sporting event. However, this ancient event hasn’t supported the young and up and coming athletes of the world. Until 2010. Where the very first event of this type took place in Singapore. Can you guess what sporting event we are talking about? Of course you knew, it is in the title of this blog-post. It is the Youth Olympic games!

Third edition of the Winter Youth Olympics

For the third time ever, the olympics will see a winter youth version of the ancient tradition happen and this time in Lausanne, Switzerland. With a whopping 1800+ participants and 81 events, it will be a great opportunity for 14 to 18 year-olds to prove to the world that they are the best of the best. This time with one extra sport, totaling at 8. You can find 79 nations fighting for a podium position in different disciplines of skiing, skating, sleighs, snowboarding, and curling.

The countries of Germany, Russian, and Switzerland have consistently performed well at the Winter youth Olympics, so you should watch out for those athletes in particular! But it doesn’t stop there. A majority of the finals are after the friday 17th! Incase you were worried you were going to miss something, the most exciting times are just around the corner.
