Celebrities also love gambling

Like us "mere mortals", celebrities cannot escape the spell of gambling. Whether at the poker table in the casino or in front of the television during the lottery draw – many well-known personalities put their luck to the test.
One celebrity who has overplayed gambling is Ben Affleck. You can read why he is banned from some American casinos in this blog post. Affleck’s professional comrade Leonardo DiCaprio is also often to be found in casinos. Among other things, he once played together with Robert DeNiro and Martin Scorsese in the Japanese city of Macau – but the whole thing was probably a PR gag.
Actors seem to be inclined to play: Matt Damon often sits down at the poker table. And he’s quite successful with that: in 2004 he won the California State Poker Championship. Hugh Jackman, on the other hand, has dedicated himself more to classic gambling. He regularly plays the lottery. Singer Lady Gaga also supposedly puts her luck to the test more often and doesn’t let herself be deterred by bigger losses. She is said to have gambled away half a million dollars in a single evening.
But not only actors like to visit the casino, also athletes tend to do so. Professional sportsmen like Tiger Woods, Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan or Michael Phelps use some of their (presumably sufficient) money every now and then. Some celebrities even invest in casinos, such as Pamela Anderson and Hugh Hefner.
