Culinary historians often describe the French chef Antonin Careme (1784 – 1833) as the first great master confectioner of the modern age. Today, there are countless types of sweet pastry. In addition to the well-known classics such as croissants, tartlets, crumble cakes and co., there are now also totally crazy types of pastry, for example so-called cronuts (a mixture of croissant and donut) or brookies (a mixture of cookie and brownie). Sounds crazy, but they are really delicious!
