The finale of Game of Thrones

The eighth and final season of the successful series "Game of Thrones" will be broadcasted in Germany in April. An estimated amount of six episodes will then be released. Fans around the globe have been discussing for months which character will die or survive. Or does nobody survive at all in the end? At any rate, the latter is assumed by actor Richard Madden, who was also murdered in his role as Robb Stark.

Like the last two seasons, the new one is no longer based on the book series A song of ice and fire by George R. R. Martin. However, the author already prattled away a long time ago that there will be a "bittersweet end" of the series. Curious though: In order to confuse paparazzi, who had crept into the set, additional fake scenes were shot. So to prevent the press from getting wind of the story’s outcome ahead of its release…

The producers had actually planned the final season for the big screen, unfortunately nothing came of it. Then, they chose to invest in the TV production instead: according to producer David Benioff, the expenses add up to about 15 million dollars per episode!
